The Bilingualism



 

In the following text I will discuss a little about that is bilingualism and as it occurs in our country for example I will talk a little about how bilingualism is given in schools and cities but a very important point and perhaps for me the most important is: what teachers think of the importance of bilingualism?; What students think of English usage? And why there is a very poor level of English in schools? These are the issues that I will address in this article and view from Colombian school context with the aim of reflecting on the learning of English in children.

 In the initial research may show that bilingualism is not just speak English since many people because many people think that being bilingual is speaking English. Then a person is bilingual also when speaking native languages for example in Colombia when talking other languages as the –emberá- including other languages ​​native to Colombia. We have a misconception that is bilingualism and I think it's very important to have cleared this part.

 

For the Ministry of National Education is very important strengthen the program of bilingualism in Colombia because this will lead to globalization this will lead to globalization.

 

This project involves everyone for strengthen bilingualism in Colombia, not only to teachers but also to citizens. Then it is important to keep in mind that learning other languages ​​involves the whole community. This bilingualism project begins in 2004 and ends in 2019.

 

Talk about a language is referring to many doors for communication with people but many people do not realize the importance of the use of languages. Today the world is getting much smaller every moment in the world of business, communications, work and even in relationships with friends. Always necessary to speak and speak well. Much more when we are talking about a global society, where it is necessary to speak at least two languages.

 It is also a great opportunity to get a job because a requirement for employment is to speak English, for this reason many universities require a certificate to graduate its students.

 In the world we are realizing the importance of speaking English today for this reason in classrooms today finds students of different nationalities; we have open borders in pursuit of excellence and break down the barriers of ignorance with the learning of other languages.

 The scope for the study of other languages ​​is very limited but as we learn other languages ​​the world becomes smaller and the opportunities for everybody will be increasingly and for the workplace will be very important to know English.

 For all that we have seen today the world is betting into English for globalization and this is a reality that few people question. Then we have that English has become the vehicle of choice for: the policy, the economics, the trade, the tourism, the science and the technology and which means that it has become in what we can call a universal language.

 The need to master English in modern life is unquestionable in a world where international relations are increasingly important and demanding and where the English language and it plays a very important role in this regard.

 The importance of knowledge of the English language has affected all countries as Colombia, where levels of English are very poor, and then the English language today is taking hold in various fields and professions.

The English language has undergone a huge expansion over time and for many years English was spoken only by a few people but today about 600 million people speak English as mother tongue and more or less the same amount you use it as a second language (figures showing the importance of this).

 

The challenge proposed the MEN is that students and teachers can communicate in English as a second language under international quality standards this insert to Colombia in universal communication processes in the global economy and cultural openness to make it a competitive country with better quality of life. The MEN proposes the following levels of English: students who complete high school B1; undergraduates B2; English teachers C1.

This project has as reference the Common European Framework for learning any language which means that the country is taking British English where the idea is to have more in mind the basics of communication and writing. One of the things that matter to this project: It is most important is that people having the ability to communicate and not to have a perfect grammar.
